"Resume
in a Bottle" - Project Preparations
Update:
August 31, 2004 Final ballast testing

We
are delighted with the entries that we received for
this project. There were not a lot of entries, but this
small
collection goes a long way to expressing both the impact
and the response to the post 2001 US political and economic
climate, particularly in the high tech sector.
While
preparing the Resume entries,
we
researched:
- ocean
communication bottle types
- ocean
communication bottle floatation technical considerations
-
release options
- ocean
currents and climate conditions that will potentially
impact this project
Update:
August 15, 2004: We have been delayed in our anticipated
Resume in a Bottle release date. We were hoping for some
open ocean boating opportunities, however, this did not
materialize. Instead we have identified Marconi Beach on
Cape Cod as a good release site, and from our ocean current
research, we are hoping that our project may get as far
as South America. We plan to release the project to it's
ocean stage in the next month, and a note will be posted
when the release has been accomplished.
Update:
August 22, 2004: Final materials for the bottle project
have been assembled. We have:
- a
wide mouth nalgene bottle
- all
identification, web site and entries printed
and assembled
- bb
shot for ballast
Project
identification is printed on photo material and will show
through the nalgene bottle. A bag off bb shot will fixed
to the bottom of the bottle for ballast to keep the bottle
upright. Orange tape and plastic pocketbooks (which will
be stuffed with styrofoam) will attract attention to the
project bottle. All entries and material have been printed.
A $20 bill and Art Without a Safety Net address
will be enclosed to encourage the finder to contact the
Resume
in a Bottle
project.
